STA. CRUZ - BAJA VERAPAZ
The primary target is to see the transformation of the village, and become a model for other communities.
Location of the project:
SANTA CRUZ CHILASCO Y SAN ISIDRO TODOS, BAJA VERAPAZ (See map on the right)
The village is located at 150 km from the Capital, Guatemala. Its a 2:45hrs drive by highway, 14km of which are dirt road.
Objectives
- Short term
- To solve the urgent needs in health, education and economic growth.
- Long term
- To establish sustainable projects in health care, prevention of diseases, and better health education.
- To establish micro business financial aid. Micro credits.
EDUCATION
What have we done
- Construction of the kindergarden and playground.
- Development of the sports area
- Computer lessons & Equipment
- Yearly school maintenance, painting, reparing
- Begining of the village highschool program

- Teaches with a 3, 6, 9 month commitment

HEALTH

- Basic medical equipment for a community clinic
- Trimestral medical & dental visits
- donation of ONIL stoves to improve the quality of living
What it is needed?
- Permanent doctor
- Nutrition, health, higiene, and first aid educational programs
- Community first aid kit
- Donations to create a community drug store
Business
What have we done
- Micro-credits to develop small businesses.
What it is needed?
- To develop community business models. To develop distribuition channels for the products
- To develop more Agro-Eco tourism
